My name is Nikki Braine, and I am currently studying a Masters degree in 3D Computer Animation at the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) in Bournemouth. This degree follows on from the completion of a BSc Hons in Digital Film Animation and 3D Technology at Staffordshire University for which I received a First Class Honours.
Interests
I am outgoing and friendly with a passion for art and design. I have always excelled in this particular area academically as it has always been something that I enjoy. Another great hobby of mine is film, and I am extremely interested in the creative side of this subject. Film modelling and animation is my real passion now as it brings together all of my interests and utilises all of my skills efficiently. The pre-production side, such as storyboarding and concept art is something I would also love to keep doing through my career, as well as modelling for film itself during production. During my University course so far I have taken every assignment and worked hard to create a piece of work that is original and uses imagination.
Sport
Another massive interest of mine is sport, in particular basketball. I have been playing basketball for around 8 years now, and have had many successful achievements. From playing in my local team, to even playing for a year in the England team, I have enjoyed every minute. I am rather competitive and love to work in a team. Basketball has helped me learn a lot about teamwork and has made me a much stronger individual overall. I spent a year as vice-captain of Staffordshire Women's team, which won the league and 'Club of the Year' in 2006.
Art and Design
As well as playing basketball I have also been commissioned to design logo's for basketball teams. Both Essex Basketball and a more local team, Baddow Eagles have asked me to create logos for the team merchandise. These have been very enjoyable and rewarding tasks, especially seeing the logo printed out professionally.
I have also been commissioned to sell many paintings, all of which are shown on this site.
In March 2006 I was chosen to represent my course and its students when meeting Her Majesty The Queen when she came to the University. I was asked to showcase my work and talk about the course in general. This was an honour, and photo's of this event can be found in 'other work'.
Overall I am a very ambitious person, and have many goals in life. I love a challenge and want to work as part of a creative and fun team. Working at the NCCA has really helped me develop my skills further and I am learning from the wide variety of people around me. My recent work from the NCCA can be found in '3D Work'. Please feel free to look at my work on this website, and if you have any questions please contact me at any time. Enjoy!
